16 of the Best High-Waisted Jeans for Women - The Cut Posted: 24 Oct 2019 07:12 AM PDT Photo: Courtesy of the Retailer While we wait with bated breath for low-rise jeans to make a comeback (the clock is ticking!), high-waisted jeans are still king. Whether you're into skinny jeans, wide-leg crops, or a classic bootcut, a high waist lends a vintage, grown-up vibe. You have your act together — your pants hit at your waist! Below are 16 options to choose from. Pretty much every varietal of high-waisted denim pants is represented. Everlane The Authentic Stretch Skinny Bootcut Bootcut gets a bad wrap, but who wouldn't trust Everlane when it comes to jeans? Everlane also makes its jeans at one of the world's most environmentally friendly factories, Saitex. Levi's Women's 501 Skinny Jeans Doesn't get more classic than Levi 501s. They're made from 100 percent cotton non-stretch denim, so if you love vintage jeans, these are for you. Good American Good Vintage Ripped Ankle Straight Leg Jeans These are also made from non-stretch denim, but have a roomier leg than the 501s. The rips in the knees also make them feel more modern. Free People Women's High Rise Straight Flare Jeans Summer may be over, but white-jean season is not. The full-length flair makes these jeans feel a bit '70s, too. Wear with your favorite status clogs. Daily Ritual Women's Wide-Leg Crop Jean Universal Standard Marne Bootcut Jeans A kick-flare is the perfect shape for people who don't want to wear skinnies, but also can't get into boot cut jeans. The brand recommends sizing down if you really want a "second skin" fit. William Rast Women's Sculpted High Rise Skinny Jean The raw edge on the hem gives just a tiny bit of flair to otherwise standard-issue skinny jeans. Reviewers say that the jeans are so soft they feel almost more like leggings. Jessica Simpson Women's Infinite High Waist Straight Leg Crop The perfect "is that vintage?" faded blue wash. But unlike other vintage-y jeans on the list, these are made with a cotton blend so they're stretchier than the 100 percent cotton jeans. Levi's Women's 724 High-Rise Straight Jeans Tired of super skinny jeans? Try a more relaxed straight leg instead. These are also made with Levi's WaterLess initiative, which uses less water than traditional denim production. Win for you, win for the planet. NYDJ Women's Plus Size Ami Super Skinny Jeans in Sure Stretch Denim Skinny jeans you can wear day after day. NYDJ jeans are equipped with their Lift Tuck technology that claims to make you look a size smaller. They also recommend ordering a size down for the Lift Tuck to work. Ella Moss Women's Cropped Wide Leg Denim The pockets, the stitching, and the dark, unfolded hem make these look more expensive than they are. If this is all a little too fussy for you, they come in a range of styles, some of which are more basic. Madewell The Curvy Perfect Vintage Jean in Sumner Wash Channel your inner skater chick in washed black jeans. Madewell warns that they'll feel a bit tight at first, but will stretch a bit within the first couple of wears. These — like the Everlane jeans — are also made at the Saitex factory, which is Fair Trade certified and recycles 98 percent of the water it uses. Levi's Women's Wedgie Icon Jeans AG Adriano Goldschmied Women's Etta Wide-Leg Crop Love a wide-leg crop jean with plenty of pockets. They're a bit more cropped than some others on the list, so pair with flats, sneakers, or a kitten heel. DL1961 x Marianna Hewitt Hepburn High Waist Wide Leg Jeans The white Hepburn jeans from DL1961 are a favorite among Cut staffers. DL1961 is also committed to making sustainable jeans by using "half the dye, water and energy than in traditional denim processing." Rag & Bone/JEAN Women's Ruth Super High-Rise Straight Jeans If you want to splurge on jeans, these high-waist, classic blue jeans are a safe bet. They're non-stretch denim and look like something Monica would wear on Friends — a plus in our book. If you buy something through our links, New York may earn an affiliate commission. |
The 10 Best Denim Jeans for Men: Fall/Winter 2019 - Men's Journal Posted: 24 Oct 2019 11:46 AM PDT Denim jeans are the ultimate closet staple. They're rare in that they're decidedly immune to color-mismatching blunders and seasonal faux pas. But landing those wear-me-everyday pairs of denim jeans can feel like an existential dilemma. Rarely is it simple, easy, or fun. Finding the right combo of fit, wash, and detailing can be as distressing as the intentional breaking in of the jeans themselves. You've already bid farewell to the lightweight chinos, joggers, and linen pants of summer, so now's the time to invest in some solid full-length denim to fill the void in your wardrobe. Our goal here is not to suggest a blind investment in our top picks, but to consider a range of styles and fits that—who knows?—could flatter you most unexpectedly. Instead of nit-picking every feature, assess the holistic versatility of your potential purchase, like whether you can dress up that black pair with leather boots (yes!), or straight-leg selvedge denim with Blundstones (we'll say yes to that, too!). At the end of the day, jeans are about utility and comfort as much as effortless style, and cherry-picked 10 denim jeans that match the mission, across a reasonable budget range. I'm 5'4"—These Are the Only Pants and Jeans I Wear - Yahoo Lifestyle Posted: 23 Oct 2019 10:10 PM PDT I'm not sure how, why, or when 5'4" became the average height of American women, but I'm choosing to embrace it. Sure, I wouldn't mind having a few extra inches to work with sometimes, but it is what it is. I used to think that I was resigned to a lifetime of visiting the tailor every time I purchased a pair of pants or jeans, but I think that most brands have caught onto the fact that a lot of us aren't 5'9" and therefore 32-inch inseams probably aren't gonna work. Speaking of inseams, I always check them before ordering an item. I typically stick with cropped or ankle-length pants and jeans because they usually end up full-length on me. (I've been avoiding very cropped pants as of late, though, as trends are shifting to longer styles.) My sweet-spot inseam is about 27 to 29 inches. I find that this length can accommodate both flats and heels for someone of my height, without baring too much ankle. Through some trial and error, I've come to find 14 pairs of pants and jeans that are truly perfect for someone of my height. Keep scrolling to shop them all (and see my 5'4" self wearing lots of them). A Who What Wear editor favorite, Agolde's Pinch Waist Jeans hit me at just the right place—not too short and not too long. Plus, they now come in a brilliant comfort-stretch version. Agolde Pinch Waist High Rise Kick Jeans ($178) I don't wear a lot of skinny jeans, but I discovered this pair last winter and quickly fell in love with them. I love that they don't seem cropped but I didn't have to get them hemmed. Citizens of Humanity Olivia High Waist Slim Jeans ($268) Reformation has a lot of jeans with my ideal inseam. See how perfect this pair looks with ankle boots? Reformation Eloise Jeans ($128) These pants are a staple item in our namesake line (sold at Target!). They're as comfortable as leggings but offer a lot more structure and polish. Who What Wear Skinny Ankle Cropped Pants ($33) Also available in additional sizes. A lot of wide-leg jeans make me look even shorter, but not this pair. I think they're about an inch longer than many cropped wide-legs, and it goes a long way. That said, I prefer wearing them with flats or low heels. Mother The Loop de Loop Fray Jeans ($258) I wear these cargo pants often. I rolled them up a bit here, but it's definitely not necessary. Re/Done Cargo Pants ($250) Another pair of jeans that aren't cropped yet didn't require a visit to the tailor, J Brand Jules jeans are just right. Plus, they're nice and stretchy without losing their shape. J Brand Jules High-Rise Straight Leg Ankle Jeans in Metropole ($248) Since the utility-pant trend shows no sign of fading, I had to have these Aritzia ones. I'm wearing them with low heels here but could definitely get away with wearing them with flats or a higher heel. Aritzia Modern Utility Pants ($110) With a 27-inch inseam, these Reformation pants are about as cropped as I go lately. I think they look especially cool with slim-fitting ankle boots. Reformation Marlon Pants ($158) Shop More Pants and Jeans I Highly RecommendTotême Black Novara Trousers ($270) I just purchased these, and they've become a fast favorite. They're definitely a cool-girl basic. 7 for All Mankind Cropped Alexa Vintage Cord in Penny ($195) With a 27.5-inch inseam (the model is 5'10"), these are just the right amount of cropped, and they're perfect for the cold-weather season. Re/Done High Rise Stove Pipe Jeans ($250) Of all of the Re/Done jeans I've tried (it's a lot), the Stove Pipes are my favorite. If you're on the short side, take my advice and try them. Levi's Dad Jeans ($98) Besides being ridiculously soft, these are the perfect loose jeans if you're petite. I've found that a lot of other loose jeans on the market are very long. (For reference, they're 28.25 inches.) Alo Airbrush 7/8 High Waist Leggings ($78) When Alo answered my prayers and started making my favorite leggings in 7/8 length, I was thrilled. Trust me—they're really good. Next up, what our 5'2" editor Nicole is buying for fall. This article originally appeared on Who What Wear Read More from Who What Wear |
